I’m currently in pre-production of my short film Signs of Aging. I’m proud to announce that Signs of Aging is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
Here are some photos from a recent table read of the script:
Logline: A mysterious young woman tries to stop a pushy skin-cream salesperson from shaming of group of women into buying “anti-aging” potions. But how can the young woman convince the others that their faces are beautiful, when they can’t even hear her?
Signs of Aging stars a diverse cast of woman, most over the age of 35, including: Antu Yacob (Law & Order SVU; Gypsy); Kelley Rae O’Donnell (The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese); Melanie Martinez (The Mysteries of Laura; The Goodnight Show) and the young woman played by Bisserat Tseggai (Billions; Orange is the New Black; The Jim Gaffigan Show).
The film is written and will be directed by me, Tara Gadomski. I was selected to participate in the Sundance Institute’s Philadelphia Screenwriters’ Intensive and have acted in Orange is the New Black, The Blacklist and Blue Bloods.
The behind-the-camera crew is also primarily made up of women, including Penny Middleton as Assistant Director.
Why make this film now? More than ever before woman of all ages are being seen and celebrated for their achievements rather than just their looks. In particular, there is a strong movement against the ageism which has plagued the beauty industry for decades. CVS, the nation’s largest drugstore chain, announced that it will stop retouching models in ads for its store-brand beauty products by 2020. Allure magazine and the AARP have already banned the term “anti-aging” in their publications.
It is the perfect time to create a fun, bold, narrative film about diverse woman who love their faces at every age.
Signs of Aging is in the fundraising phase of pre-production. It will be produced under a SAG-AFTRA Ultra-Low-Budget contract. The film’s budget is $8000. We are currently seeking producing partners and donations to create our vision. We believe this film will have a wide-spread international viewership through top film festivals, and potential for online distribution.
